Program Details

Consistent with the university student outcomes, upon completion of the Bachelor of Science in Public Health degree, graduates will be able to:

  1. Effectively communicate public health information, in both oral and written forms and through a variety of media, to diverse audiences. (CEPH)
  2. Locate, use, evaluate and synthesize public health information. (CEPH)
  3. Plan individual and population-based health education.
  4. Implement and assess individual and population-based health education.
  5. Conduct research and evaluation related to public health.
  6. Demonstrate cultural competence.
  7. Integrate a Christian perspective as it relates to health and wellness.

HSC 305: Epidemiology

Principles and methods used to investigate the distribution, determinants, and prevention strategies for disease in human populations.

HSC 320: Public Health Nutrition and Physical Activity

This course introduces concepts of nutrition as they relate to nutritional needs, practices and problems throughout the life cycle, nutritional counseling and education of individuals/groups toward health promotion and disease prevention.

KIN 302: Contemporary Health Issues

Major areas include personal, family, and community health, including the effects of alcohol, dangerous drugs and narcotics, degenerative and infectious diseases, and tobacco on the human body. Exploration of community resources related to health issues is offered.
